Circle of Angel's Doily

Time does fly, as they say when your having fun. I have finished the Circle of Angel's doily I've been working on this month. Thought I would share a picture of it with you.
Sunday we had our grand daughter's belated birthday party. There were 10 family members here, and we had a great time. It misted rain all afternoon, so our plans for an outside party crashed, and we had it inside. I learned you can't get cake icing off of a chair seat cover. It is Purple of all colors. If anyone knows the secret to getting it off I would welcome the info.
I guess I will begin the curtains to match my pineapple tablecloth I just finished. A designer in my group read my quest for a pattern and offered to draft out a pattern to match the cloth, so now I will see if I can make it. Can that get any better? :)

Hi Everyone,
I guess you may think I have totally forgotten about my blog, well, actually I haven't. I have been checking in every once in awhile to see if there is any new comments, or new followers.
Now to catch you up on what has been going on in my little corner of Missouri, and craft spot. I have been knitting. I've made two doilies. Yes, after 4 years of knitting here and there along I finally dived in and made two doilies. Were they hard, no not really, but mistakes I made a plenty, but kept frogging, and redoing until I got them made. The One took me about a month to make. I started it over 6 times, yes, I did, but I was not going to let that doily beat me. It was designed, and made by the author, and If she could I could. (smile) So, I just backed my ears and jumped in for the long haul. LOL Oh, I am going after another one later when I get recooped from this one. I haven't made the one I actually want to make yet. But, I do love this one. It is 18" across. I used size 2 DPN's, 10 thread. After breaking two pair of size 1 circulars I learned that I had to use the correct size needles for the thread. Why didn't I know that (banging head) yep, I had to spend X amt. of money before I looked up the info. on needle and thread compatible.
Just fininsed a little Snowflake doily. My group is having a CAL with it, and we are beading it. The design ruffles, so I did a bit of tweaking to get it to lay flat.
That about sums it up for now.

Newest Doily I crocheted

This doily is a Vintage doily back in the mid 50's. It is from a book that was handed down to me from my mother's collection. Picot doily is the name of the design. I have revamped the design to replace the Picot's with beads, and having a crochet along with it. This one was made with size 10 thread #8 hook, and 8/0 beads.
I am remaking the design with size 20 thread, #10 hook, and 8/0 beads.
This design is so easy, and a fast one to make.

Sharing more Snowflakes I've made

Two of these are not from the Snowcatcher blog; they are right top, and left bottom, but the other 2 are. If you love to make snowflakes I would encourage you to visit her blog. My tree is going to be just gorgeous this Christmas.

Don't know if a collage picture view works like that too.
Ok, off to make another snowflake this one is an Irish Rose snowflake by Marika Simon. It is beautiful too. Oh, and I am going to put glow in the dark on some of my snowflakes if not all of them.

I HAVE BEEN MAKING SNOWFLAKES

SHARING SOME SNOWFLAKES I'VE RECENTLY MADE.

I have been making snowflakes, but not designing any.

In my group the Thread_N_Stitches yahoo group, we have been doing a Monday 6" square, that we will be making into an afghan at the end of the year, with 52 squares.

Then 3 weeks of the month on Thursdays we are making snowflakes.

We have made some from the Snow Catcher blog. She has some of the most gorgeous ones I've seen to date. I wanted to share some of them with every one that I have made.

I am sure going to have more gorgeous snowflakes on my tree this Christmas.

My very Favorite Beaded Doily

This doily I made about 3 years ago, and gifted it to my husband's cousin's wife.

I used those tiny seed beads in this design. This design is called Pineapple Nosegay. I got the pattern for the celtsvintagecrochet. It is a free pattern, but you have to belong to her group to get this design now. This is size 30 thread. It was so delicate and dainty looking.

Valentine Doily designed by Delsie Rhoades

This design is called Affection. You can find this pattern in Our Favorite Doilies Vol. 1 by Delsie Rhoades.

I crocheted this in a crochet along in the rock a beady crochet group.

Her design is all White, but we crochet beads into our work, so each lady decided to create their own with beads as they want their's to look. This doily is much prettier in person than this picture shows.

Now it is on to making another block with the Thread n Stitches group, and also we are making snowflakes this year.

I am hoping to keep up making the squares, because we will be making an afghan out of the 52 squares at the end of the year, and we are doing 3 snowflakes a month, so I will have 40 if I keep up.

I will be sharing them with my DIL for their tree.

Hand made snowflakes are just gorgeous on the tree.

I want to put some of that glow in the dark on some of mine.

I didn't get to this past Christmas, and I can buy it in the craft center all year, so hopefully when I have an extra $7. I can get a set of it for my snowflakes this winter.

I can just visualize them glowing in the dark. Be just like me forgetting about it, and get up in the night, and scaring the devil out of myself. ROFLOL

Hello Friends, and Family

It's been awhile since I have written in my blog, so thought it time to give an update of what I have been doing.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so I have been thinking Pink. I have made two valentine doilies. If you like these doilies you can find them here at this link. http://www.crochetmemories.com/archive/february5.html .com/archive/february5.html

Then there is the Burgundy one:
This is the first one I made using Burgundy Red Heart #10 thread. It bleeds, so I didn't use it with White. You might want to make a note of that should you use this color.

Oh yes, I am still making Snowflakes.

We are making one a week for 52 weeks this Year with the Thread and Stitches yahoo group.

These are the ones I have made so far, as you can tell I made 4 of the same one. The Gold one looks like it has taken on leggs, and could walk out of here. :)

I am also making 6 inch squares. The CAL leader has us making one a week, and at the end of the year we will have enough to make an afghan.
Here are the 3 that I have already made. I have a 4th one yet to make to complete this month's square CAL. I had better get busy, or get behind. Snowflakes are coming again tomorrow.

I am also teaching a dear friend to crochet through the email, and she is doing fantastic. She has already made an afghan, and sent it to me, as a love gift for teaching her to make the square.
That will be another blog post.

Directions:

Rnd. 01: Ch 3, 9 dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st to join in 3rd ch of beg ch 3. (10 dc)

Rnd. 02: Ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, (3 sc in next ch st) repeat 7 times. sc in same as join. * sc in next 2 dc's, ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, (3 sc in next ch st) repeat 7 times, sc in same dc. * repeat from * to * around. ending with sc in last dc.

( 5 spiro's, and 5 sc)

DOORSTOP, dishcloths, and stitch markers

This is what I have been doing in my little corner of the world. I crafted this doorstop for a friend. I call it "Friends" You can click on the picture and get a larger view of the picture.

I've also been making Dishcloths, and Potholders for Christmas gifts. I love the pattern I designed it is very easy, not time consuming, and just the right size and thickness to suit me.

I've also experimented at making some stitch markers. They are very simple just a necklace clasp, and a charm, but they work great.

I'm just keeping busy. Christmas is just around the corner now. I am trying to get ready. Don't have my tree up yet, so guess I'd better get busy soon and get it up. Don't want to disappoint the grandchildren, so got to get that tree up. (smile)

Directions:

Rnd. 01: Chain 31, sc in second ch from hook ( 30 sc sts ) ch. 2 turn.
(ch 2 counts as the first dc in each rnd.....Dc in ch 2 at end of each rnd.

Rnd. 02: * Dc in front loop of the next sc, dc in the back loop of the next sc,*
repeat from * to * across row to last sc, dc in the last sc. Ch. 2, turn ( 30 dc )

Rnd. 03: * Dc in back loop of next dc, dc in front loop of next dc, * repeat from * to * across row, ch 2 turn. ( 30 dc )

Rnd. 04: * Dc in front loop of next dc, dc in back loop of next dc, * repeat from * to * across row, ch 2 turn. ( 30 dc )

Rnd. 02: * hdc in 1st hdc, and each hdc across row, ch 1 turn. Continue working rnd 02 until you have 15 rows.

Rnd. 03: Placing these squares back to back single crochet these two squares together crocheting 3 sc in each corner, ending with ch 5, sl st to make a loop for hanging. Finish off..

Material: Small amt. of 3 balls of Cotton yarn

Hook: H/ 5.00 mm

Gauge: not important

Size: 8 x 8.5"

Skill: Easy

Colors: A: Camel B. Peppercorn Ombre

Special stitches: Single crochet in one loop of each single crochet through out the pattern. ( the loop always facing you )

Joined new yarn: (Leaving two loops on hook, pull new yarn through with a loop, working tail of new yarn into the row). See Picture # 2

How to work slanted pulled up yarn into row. See Picture #1

Directions:

Rnd: 01. With color A. (Camel ) Ch. 25, turn sc in loop of 2nd ch. st. from hook, and each ch. st. across row. Ch 1, Turn

( 24 sc. on each row through out the pattern) Keep count of each round.

Rnd: 02. Sc. in 1st sc (Back loop facing you), and in each sc. st. across row. Ch. 1 Turn.

Rnd: 03. Sc in 1st sc. ( Front loop facing you) pull up loop in 2nd sc, (two loops on hook) drop color A. ( do not cut yarn ), join color B.

with a loop through the two loops on hook, working over tail of joined color B. sc in next 19 sc, pull up loop in the next st , join color A ( second ball ) with a loop working over the last two sc sts. Ch 1, Turn

Rnd: 04. Sc in 1st sc. pull up a loop in next sc, ( drop color A yarn to back) pull dropped Color B through the two loops on the hook, ( you will notice the pulled up color B will look slanted, with your hook to the right of that slanted st go under that yarn, and through the sc st loop to make your next sc.) Continue sc with color B to within the last 2 sts., drop color B, pull up color A, and sc in the last two sts. Ch 1 turn

Rnd: 05. Continue working each round as round 4 until your cloth measures the length you would like it, or for total from beginning 23 rows.

Rnd: 06: You should be working with color A at the end of round 23.

You can cut Color B here, but leave enough length to weave into cloth. Ch 1, Turn continue with color A across the 24 sc sts. You can cut the 2nd color A at this point, but leave enough yarn to weave into the cloth, Ch 1 turn with working color A, sc in next 23 sts. 3 sc in last st on row, working down the left side facing sc in each end row to the bottom, at the bottom will be your beginning chain row. Work 3 sc in lst ch st. sc in next 22 ch sts, 3 sc in last ch st. Working up the other side, sc in each end row, and 3 sc in first sc at top, sc in each sc across row, sl st to join in 1st sc of 3 sc group. Finish off, work in lose ends.

Grandaughter lost her first tooth

We could not figure out what had happen as she began crying uncontrollable. Her mom jumped up and said what happen, she said my tooth came out, her mom looked in her mouth, and began screaming herself, and rushed her to the bathroom and discovered she wasn't bleeding. We ask where is the tooth she said I put it in the trash. LOL So, her dad dug through the trash for the tooth.
Her pa pa ask her how much that tooth was worth to get her attention and maybe she would stop crying. Sure enough she got focused on the money he gave her. Then she said the tooth fairy gave her some more money, and at their church she got more money, and today more money at our church. I don't know how much that tooth come out making. LOL We have her a piggy bank here, so she will be bringing her money over to feed the piggy.
Her hair was all messed up because she had just come from a wedding she was the flower girl in, and her mother took the flowers out of her hair and gave it a few flips to spread it out, so that is why her hair is going in all directions. Those are natural curls you are seeing. She has just enough curl to make it really pretty. Thought I'd share this little bit with you.

LACY SINGLE STITCH DISHCLOTH

H hook
Finished size 8"x8"
Skill: Beginner

1st rnd: Ch 25, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 23 ch sts. ch 1 turn. (24 sc in each row )

2nd. rnd: Sc in back loop of lst sc st, and each sc across row, chain 1 turn.

3rd. rnd: Sc in front loop of lst sc, and each sc across row.

4th. rnd: Repeat round 2-3 until your cloth measures 8" length. Finish off

Edging: With last row facing you, join yarn in last sc, 3 sc in same place as join. Working down left side of cloth, sc in each end row to the bottom, 3 sc in 1st ch st. sc in next 22 sc, and 3 sc in last ch st. DO not turn, working up the right side sc in each row to top. 3 sc in first sc, and 1 sc in each sc across row. sl st in 1st sc of the 3sc group at beginning. Finish off....

These directions are from memory, so there may be mistkes in the directions.
I am only human, and I've only one eye open this late. LOL

GRAPE DOILY FROM QUICK TRICKS IN CROCHET

This design I just finished. You can find the pattern in the Quick Tricks in Crochet book. I bought my book from ebay, and I saw there was another one while surfing there recently.
It is an old vintage design. I did tweak the leaves a bit, as they were much fuller than they are now, but still a bit full. Once I blocked them they laid down.

SHARING MY BIRTHDAY GIFT FROM A FRIEND

What a surprise I got Thursday when the mail lady honked for me to come out to meet her.

I could see she had a large box, and my thoughts were, (I haven't ordered anything recently there must be a mistake). I tipped the box a bit before I

took it, and saw my friend Sherry in Iowa's name on the return.

If you could have seen my face. I think my eyes were as big as my face. LOL

I said to the lady, "oh, this is from a friend she has sent me something." I hurried in the house saying, "honey look I got something from Sherry." He said what; having his back toward me. I said, "I don't know pushing past him to get something to cut the tape." He stood there in anticipation to see what was in the box.

There were two cards, hand made by her, as she does that kind of craft. I handed him the Anniv. card, as it was addressed to both of us, and he said, "oh! I got something too." I said. "yes, read the card." He read it, and said she sure knows how to write poem's for the occasion. Of course I already knew that because that wasn't the first card I had gotten from her. Then there was a birthday card for me. It was so beautiful with a equally beautiful poem.

It took my whole little Kitchen Pedestal Breakfast table to spread out the items she had sent me. 36 in all. The baby dress is a clothes pin bag. It is so neat, it is home to my curler's right now, as I don't hang my clothes out. But, it is so useful for different things.

There were 12 crochet covered clothes hanger's which I divided with my husband in the color's that were appropriate for a guy.

6 Christmas Angels,

3 crochet dishcloth's,

12 sachet squares oh they smell heavenly.

And two wire hanger covers she sent for me to cover a couple hanger's, and the clothes pin bag.

I will enjoy doing that. I have never covered a hanger before, and it will be fun for the first time.

I wanted to share these items with you not only because it is so exciting, but that you might get some idea's from her great gifts for Christmas giving.

Right now children's clothes are on clearance, and a lot for $. I am hoping they haven't sold all of them out by the time I can get back to town. (smile) Because I'd like to make some of those Clothes pin bags.

Update on Pineapple Star Tablecloth

It has been quite awhile since I have been back to my blog. Life is just too busy sometimes to do all I want to do. I wanted to show you the small progress I have made on my table cloth. FAN CONTEST AT A GROUP!

I made this Fan in a group I am in as a crochet along, and then the mod. wanted us to embellish the Fan, and enter it into a contest.

Mine didn't win, but it did compete with a couple more that got the same amt. of votes, so I was pleased.

I learned to not make Yellow Rose's unless it is a much darker Yellow, as you can see the Yellow I used did not do the Rose's the justice they deserved in the picture.

I gifted this Fan to a friend that has, or will be putting it on her wall, so I am pretty pleased with the out come of the design.

This design is called Wedding Fan, and was designed by Cylinda Matthews, at crochetmemories. It is one of her free designs. She was so nice to let us use her pattern in the group.

My Grandchildren having fun!

Here is both of our grandchildren hamming it up. They love to have their picture taken. Anglea, which is pronounced just like Angela is behind Christian coloring in the other picture, but you can only see her pants between his legs. I told him to get over there with her, and he hogged the picture. LOL
Anglea, starts P-K Monday the 13 th. Oh, how our babies grow up so fast. She will be 5 then the 16th. Couldn't get her in P-K last year, as they were too full.
She is excited about her birthday party, and has already given me a list of what she expects me to get her, and, it keeps growing. LOL
She cut her hair this morning on both sides. Now she has bangs, and it is shorter on one side than the other. I told her mom to not get so upset about it, that some children do that. I am quietly thinking why weren't the scissors put up better.

Here is our grandson, Christian. He loves posing for a picture. He loves playing with this hat. He got it again this morning, and wanted Mommy to take another picture of him, so she is planning to send it to his great Aunt Sandy.

Update on Tablecloth

This is going to take awhile to complete, as there are so many other things I want to be making too.
I finally got it out to the edge of my table. I am on round 55 of 87 rounds now. The Pineapple's are beginning to show now. I am anxious to get this finished as I have another large project I want to get into when this is finished.

Oh where to begin on what I've been doing. I'm still working on the tablecloth. Got so many iron's, or should I say fingers in the fire there isn't that much time to get many stitches in on it, but it is coming along nicely.

I've also been making a bingo prize for the winner of our last game. Oh no can't show the pictures yet; not until she see's her prize. (smile)

Oh, and I have crocheted the Wedding Fan that is designed by Cylinda Matthew's, and embellished it. ( free pattern )

And, again no I can't show it yet. It is for a contest in my group that Judy W. is leading. I can hardly wait to see all the pictures to vote on.

Oh my, my there are other things going too, just have to be patient Krochetgurl till picture's start coming in. (smile)

In the past patience wasn't one of my virtures. I remember when I was a little girl if dad said he was going to do something for me come the wk. end I didn't let him forget it daily. My darling grand daughter is the same way. But, as I've gotten older, and I mean older. (smile) I've learned I just can't hurry things, so I've learned some patience, well some. LOL

Pineapple Star Tablecloth

Hello Friends,

Sorry, I haven't posted in a good while. I have been busy crocheting some of Patricia Kristoffersen design's, and even knitted a pillow, and a Missouri State Cloth.

Currently I am crocheting a Tablecloth. It is going to be 60 inches across. This cloth will grace my kitchen Pedestal table my husband built me a

couple Christmas ago.

My new group (Thread_N_Stitches) is doing real good for which I am very happy with. It was a month old the 17th. and we are already 43 member strong.

I love crochet chat, and we have lots of that.

Now I will show you the center of my newest project. This tablecloth was designed by Dot Drake, and is the Star tablecloth. This cloth will have Pineapple's around the outer part of the design.

The design is in Annie's Favorite Thread Projects hard back book. I got my book on ebay for a very low price, and the lady has 10 copies of the book yet for $5.00 + $2.80 shipping, and she ship's world wide.

The above design is called " Precious", and made with size 10 thread, Wood Violet color.

These are my first two designs of Patricia Kristoffersen that I have crocheted. Her designs are a lot of fun making if you like a challenge in your crochet skills. Grand Children and their Valentine Bears

They were so excited to get their Valentine Bears, they just squealed with delight. I knitted a heart dish cloth for my daughter in law, she got very excited too.

She said did you get D. ( our son ) something too, and I said he can use the

cloth to wash dishes with too. LOL Seeing he does them as often as she does.

Tomorrow will be their 5th wedding anniv. I can hardly wait to see her reaction to the things I have made for their anniv. :) She said they were going out to eat, and a movie afterward. I hope they enjoy their day to the fullest.

Rose Parade Doily Designer Kathryn White

Thought I would share a picture of the Rose Parade Doily I just finished making. This was designed by Kathryn White. It came out in the Feb. Crochet World magazine. I thought it turned out pretty good considering I used size 10 thread, and the design is in size 20 thread. Our group at RABC group yahoo are again making Christmas Ornaments this year. So, I am going to try and catch up on the Ornaments that have already been posted. I've been making two of each, so my son and family will have some pretty hand made Ornaments for their tree this coming Christmas should God grant us another one. I know according to the weather news that all states in the USA except one is being touched by this snow, some more than others, and my heart goes out to those of you that are having much more than your share. The most we've seen here in the area I am in is 9 inches. Today being Valentine's day I gave the two darling grand children a Teddy Bear apiece. We didn't do anything special today for Valentine's Day. Hope you had a great day!

This is the same design as the " Splattered in the Snow". I just changed it a bit.
I like it much better now. It is now 3 1/2 inches instead of the 4 1/2, and over all it is much smaller. As with the other picture just click on the picture it will take you to the full size copy. Then right click with you mouse, and choose copy, then go to your printer and print out. It will come out original size.

I love this butterfly discloth. I sent it to a friend in one of the groups I am in.

This Turkey cloth was one of the first dishcloth's I made. It was made in 2007.

Missouri Dishcloth, was given as a gift to someone.

Frog dishcloth was just recently made, given to a new friend I met online that came to visit me recently.

Cascading Leaves Socks. Free pattern from one of the knitting groups I am a member. Designed by the owner of the group.

Lacy socks, I bought the yarn from knitpicks, it was supposed to have been washable, but they felted when I washed them. Since then they have given notice that this yarn does felt.

Beginning of the Cascading Leaves socks. Beautiful design. I love wearing these socks.

Plastic bag holder. I added the diamond design to the bag from the heart and diamond sock design.

Hearts, and Diamond's socks. They look like they fit, but they were too big for me. I gifted them to a dear friend in one of my groups. This yarn is hand washable. Color is Sky.

Cabbage Rose dishcloth. I enjoyed making this cloth. I think because it had some very difficult stitches in it that I learned. Background doesn't do the cloth any justice.

Praying Hands cloth, was also given as a gift.

Pedestal Table for my kitchen

This is the table my husband built for Christmas last year. He also built 3 Oak chairs. Hopefully he will have time to build the 4th one this Winter.
He is talking about building me a large pedestal table for my dinning room to match the chairs. We had company recently from up in Missouri, and we 4 sat comfortably at the table and had our breakfast.

How Time does fly!

I was looking at a friend's blog, and discovered she had linked to my blog here. It's been a long time since I have given any attention to this blog, so here I am showing some things I have did over the past year. My, how time does fly. Where does time go? We are already into Fall, and this has been the strangest year of my life. Winter rolled into Spring, Spring rolled into Summer, Summer where did it go? Now Fall is more like an early Winter, with lot's of rain in between. I've heard we are going to have a really bad Winter here in our part of Missouri. At least we won't have as many trees to be falling all around us like we did last Feb.

Violet thread, and #10 hook. DEC Cebella crochet cotton.

This pattern is in the Pineapple Crochet Designs, edited by Rita Weiss.

It is a Dover Needlework Series. I found my book on ebay.

Plastic Bag Keeper

I guess I am a bit silly to some people, but I am so pleased with my first knitted plastic bag keeper.

It is made with Peaches and Creme cotton yarn. Using size 7 circulars, and 6 DPN's for the I-Cord.

New Cabinet!

My husband is a real handy man with wood. He surprised me with this cabinet to go over my computer desk. He is always doing things for me. And, as you see I have it loaded. I ask him if he thought 3 lamps was too many on top of the shelves. LOL, he said no they look good. This past week he built me a two shelf cabinet to go on one wall in the front bedroom. I have both shelves totally full of books, craft, sewing, music, reading, cook books, quilting. Oh my I could craft the rest of my life and never get all those patterns made up. I remember when we lived in Texas I bought a whole volume of the "You make it " There are 20 hard back books in that volume, plus sewing patterns. One huge stack has never been opened, and I've had those books for 30 years. Can't remember making one thing out of those books. Why do we crafters do that, we see something we want, buy it, and then it's just there. I admit I am addicted to buying books I have never made one thing out of. Wonder if I am alone in that. LOL surely not.

There is just a warm feeling about making your own socks. When I get the first one made to the pair I hold it up, and with a big smile say sure looks good, and I did it with my own little hands.

I've got a lot to learn about knitting, but enjoying doing what I know. There just isn't any socks I have to my opinion as warm as the ones I've made, and the satisfaction it gives my spirit to know I made them myself.

I started the second sock tonight don't know how soon I can get it made with the Crochet I've got to do soon.

My nickname is KrochetGurl, you may know me from msn groups, and yahoo groups. I am a crocheter, of over 50 years, and still leaning new techniques.

As of this November I will be knitting 1 year. It has gone by really fast. I've only made a few things like dish cloths, a 2T sweater, and socks. I haven't learned to knit in the round yet, but that is my next project in a KAL with a yahoo group. I am curently knitting a pair of socks for myself. ( Picture Above ) This being my 3rd pair to knit. I've also dabbled in a bit of designing. I made the Water Lily flower, and it is free at my yahoo 360 blog, along with a thread holder.

I am a bit disappoints along with many others that msn groups are closing, but I understand that they are going to have Windows Live Groups November 17th. I know a lot of the groups are already setting up else where. Oh well, just have to follow where they lead me. LOL

That's all my ranbling for now.
